Artificial intelligence won't take teachers' jobs – but teachers who use it with confidence will gain an edge that others will find hard to match.
- Are you afraid children will forget how to think?
- Are you concerned about ethical and data protection issues?
- Or do you feel the pace is too fast and you're falling behind the latest digital trends?
This course answers exactly these questions. It isn't an IT crash course: we give you a pedagogically focused, safe and immediately usable toolkit.
Why choose this short course?
- No dry theory, just the essentials: The course is built on a 50/50 balance of theory and practice. We give you exactly as much theory as you need for safe and legally compliant use, and spend the rest of the time working hands-on together.
- Awareness instead of fear: We show you how to avoid AI "hallucinations" and how to turn AI into a tutoring tool that doesn't do students' homework for them, but encourages them to think and solve problems.
- We save you time: You'll leave with a ready-made "prompt cookbook" and tested templates that cut the time needed to prepare lesson plans, tests and differentiated learning materials to a fraction.
- An interactive experience: The course uses Mentimeter, so you'll be an active participant throughout.
What will we cover during the 120 minutes?
🧠 1. Opening the "black box" (theoretical foundations)
- How do large language models work?
- Risks in practice: what are hallucination and bias, and how can we guard against them?
- The future of work: what skills do we need to prepare today's students for?
⚖️ 2. Safety, ethics and law
- Red lines in education: the most important rules of the EU AI Act and the GDPR, tailored to teachers. (What can we upload, and what is strictly off-limits?)
🛠️ 3. The secret of a good prompt (practice)
- How to ask questions that get precise answers (the Role–Task–Context model)
- Training AI through play: a Teachable Machine crash course
👩🏫 4. AI as a digital assistant and tutor
- The magic of Gemini's Guided Learning mode and custom Gems: a machine that doesn't give away the answer, but teaches by asking questions, following Socratic principles.
- Instant differentiation (special educational needs, learning and behavioural difficulties, or gifted education – in a single click)
📂 5. Smart documents and "vibe coding"
- NotebookLM: how to use AI to create interactive learning materials or podcasts exclusively from trusted PDFs that you upload yourself
- Google AI Studio demo: building apps without any coding knowledge (vibe coding) – generating visual teaching aids in moments
