Family Activity — Design a Home for Winter Migratory Birds!

Cold weather is approaching, and the birds could really use some help. During the workshop, participants worked together to design their own birdhouse using the Tinkercad 3D design program—from the initial idea to the finished digital model. 🐦

🌟 How does an idea become a 3D model?

During the one-and-a-half-hour family workshop, participants learned the basics of Tinkercad, a browser-based 3D design program: by building from simple shapes and working with dimensions and proportions, you’ll design your own birdhouse. Along the way, we’ll also discuss what makes a practical bird feeder.

Imagination, creativity, and problem-solving skills develop during the design process — kids and adults decide together what the roof, the roofline, or the decorations should look like. No prior design experience is necessary.
