Reflections in six acts
BABEL is an audiovisualjourneybasedontheshort story "The Library of Babel" by Jorge Luis Borges. The work, whichunfolds in thehexagonalspace of theHexagon, is notjust a projection - it is a philosophical and artisticreflectiononthelimitlessness of knowledge, human curiosity and theinfinitejourney of cognition. Over thecourse of sixacts, visitorsareimmersed in an immersivevisualworldwherespatialsound and interactivecompositionsopenupnewperspectivesontheboundaries of perception and interpretation.
The 360° projection and dynamicallychanginglightcompositionsrevealthelimits of human knowledge. Digital art and philosophicalthoughtareintertwined.
The work not only evokes the image of the infinite library, but also reflects on how we make sense of the world in the infinite flow of information that surrounds us. Visitors themselves become part of the story, where the interaction of space and content constantly shapes the experience. BABEL is not just a spectacular installation, but a thought-provoking experience that inspires us to look at the intersection of knowledge, art and technology in a new way.
Merged Singularity
Visual by Bálint Benkovits
Sound by Gábor Halász
A visual and sound-based work that transforms Babel's library into a constantly evolving associative space where knowledge, memory and ideas are ultimately condensed into a single point.
Fragments of memory
Visual by Glowing Bulbs
Sound by Csilla Domonkos
While it is our memories that make us who we are, we feed on them and rely on them. But if our brains lie, who are we really?
Wrinkled memories
Visual by Gábor Kitzinger
Sound by Rozi Mákó
A dynamic spatial animation that reveals the layers of memory, using dreamlike imagery and psychological theories to highlight that all memory is also re-creation.
Homogeneous
Visual by Ivo Kovács
Sound by József Iszlay An audiovisual journey exploring the dynamics of a noisy space - an infinite, shifting structure that is both chaotic and secure.
The Tools of Experience
Visual by Andrea Sztojánovits
Sound by Gergely Álmos
An ever-changing spatial experience where optical illusions and polyrhythmic sound structures blur the boundaries of visual perception, gradually transforming the illusion of comfort into chaos and then into a new order.
The Encyclopaedia of Sublime Spaces
Visual by Viktor Vicsek and Rodrigo Guzman
Sound by Péter Márton
A librarian discovers the Encyclopaedia of Sublime Spaces, while spatial voice control shapes the dimensions of perception using a Pure Data-based system.
The audiovisual production BABEL was initiated by Burning Burners with the aim of introducing the public to the hexagonal space of CODE through a group and collective contemporary work. The basic concept was developed in a collaborative but free form by the invited artists.
The complete projection design and integration of the hexagon was led by Farkas Fülöp and Tamás Zádor (Burning Sparks). The projection system is controlled by a specially developed media server (GloBu).
The surround sound production was designed and managed by Péter Halász (Sepia Sound Studio, Immerzum), with Gábor Halász assisting in the production process. The production was realised in the rooms and on the systems of Sepia Sound Studio. The works were created using 4DSOUND technology.
